Rocky Springs Missionary Baptist Church lends a hand at Christmas

"We just wanted to make a difference. Every year our church sponsors a needy family and this year the pastor's wife thought about donating to children's hospital and helping many families," said Janice Taylor of why her church, Rocky Springs Missionary Baptist Church in Terry decided to raise money for Friends of Children's Hospital.

Rocky Springs, along with other community groups and churches, hosted several fundraisers and together they raised over $1,350 for children's hospital.

"We hosted several fish fries, garage sales, whatever our groups came up with, we found everyone was open to helping the children's hospital," said Janice.

On December 20th, Rocky Springs hosted a program for children's hospital. Many community members and children's hospital representatives enjoyed an evening of song and worship before they presented their donation.

"For this community to raise these funds, that just touches your heart. These wonderful people donated their time and offerings to give to the children during the holiday season when it was needed most. I greatly enjoyed their program and encourage other churches and community groups to follow their lead," said Suzan Thames, chairman of the board of directors for Friends.

Reverend J.C. Weathersby and his wife Naomi received their Christmas wish. This donation not only helped one needy family at Christmas time, it helped several patients and their families.
